Makeup Vanity Overhaul

In my history of wearing makeup regularly (since 6th grade), I have always sat at the vanity in my bedroom. It has a three-sided mirror and four drawers going down each side. The drawers always held desk-type things and I always kept my beauty stuff on top. When I left for college, I could keep all my stash in a large Diane von Furstenberg train case which made it easy to transport from dorm to home and back (if I needed all of it). Eventually my beauty products out-grew the top of the vanity and the drawers basically kept forgotten pieces of cheap, broken jewelry, old cell phones, scrunchies and other junk. I wanted to utilize that valuable drawer space for the products I was actually using!

This weekend, I spent an afternoon going through each drawer, keeping what could be kept and purging just about everything else. My goal was to get all my makeup IN THE DRAWERS. I had seen some great makeup organization on Pinterest, so taking some inspiration from that, I got selection of drawer organizers from Target and got everything separated and in its place. It’s so nice! I love it!

The BEFORE. This means I really love ya’ll to let you see how this looked on a daily basis. I didn’t even straighten it up. But everything is organized! Pink bag has blush/bronzer, purple bag has foundation/concealer/powder, etc.

You can see my UD mega palettes underneath the two bags containing lip products.

Inside the train case is mostly eyeshadows, liners, etc.

AFTER! I used an old sheet to cover the top, that way I can wash it or if it gets stained, I can just toss it. But I love the cloud pattern!

All my perfumes. The little white basket in the back has perfumed lotions.

Behind the makeup mirror. The little bowl has mini bottles and rollerballs.

UD palettes and my brushes. The star box has my everyday earrings.

Top left drawer: Face/base products and some small tools and eyelashes

Second left drawer: Blushes, bronzers and illuminizers (and an extra palette because it didn’t fit anywhere else)

Third left drawer: Medium sized palettes

Bottom left drawer: body shimmers and extra product (I buy my mascaras in bulk)

Top right drawer: Eyeliners and mascara. On the far right basket is blue, green & purple liners and the left has black, brown and metallics.

Second left drawer: Eyeshadow quads and singles

Third right drawer: lippies and glosses. These I had organized a while back. Purple has nudes/browns/clear, green is pinks and blue is reds/corals.
